Guitarist

I've found a lovely potential guitarist for the Cover Gurlz.

Nic Bedo plays in a band called Ruckzuck, with various videos available on youtube. Nic is the blonde on the left:

Nic also also has an Instagram -- and identfies as a "Psychedelic crossdresser."

Guitarist: R R

R R is a talented guitar player, but she always wears a mask to cover her lower face. This is a rare video in that she is not wearing latex.

She's slim with petite feminine hands. She makes a perfect Cover Gurl -- but the marketing department needs to figure out a replacement for that mask.

Here's R R playing guitar in a latex dress:

Here's a picture of this "girl band of men":

Guitarist: Hizaki

Hizaki is a Japanese visual kei musician (guitarist). Here's a typical photo, though you can find a wide assortment on the web:

And this video features a guitar solo -- feel free to skip to about 1:25.

Moulin Dudes

In Shreveport, a group of four gurlz is playing girl-group cover songs under the name Moulin Dudes.

Here's one of their videos. Turn it up a bit, the sound isn't great.

I'd like the gurlz more if they'd embrace their femme image a bit more -- shave or hide some of the hair, improve the makeup and hair, and maybe try some fashion heels.

Bass player: H.J. Freaks

H.J. Freaks has posted a lot of videos to her youtube channel. She's a bass player (from Korea, apparently) -- and seems to have the music production skills that would make it possible to bring the Cover Gurlz into (virtual) reality.

I posted about technical needs on Gossip Gurl this past week.

Here's a compilation of several players performing a tune (as posted by H.J. Freaks):

H.J. Freaks isn't wearing much clothing in that video, but she wears a variety of outfits in her others, which show her playing bass solo:

Guitarist: Tracy Thomas

Tracy Thomas of the Savannah Princess Band clearly has the chops to play guitar in the Cover Gurlz.

She's a little older than most of the other gurls profiled here -- and other singers will probably front the band. But she can play.

Here's a publicity photo of Tracy in a dress:

The Honeytraps: "Wishing" video

In 2006, Channel 4 in the UK televised a 6 episode television show with a them very much like the intent of this blog. This is from the IMDB page about the show:
Former 80's boyband star Nathan Moore and music industry guru Olivier Bezardi want to pull off one the most audacious stunts in the history of pop: passing off a bunch of former male stars as a hot new girlband.

Here's the video that concluded the show:

Dancer: Chase Johnsey

The Cover Gurlz are a pop-rock band, but membership is open to classically trained artists. And every important girl group needs some good dancers. Right?

Chase Johnsey was named by Dance magazine in January 2008 as one of 25 to watch.
Johnsey (aka Yakatarina Verbosovitch and her danseur alter-ego Roland Daulin) uses his brilliant technique and delicate quality to blur gender lines to the point of spooky illusion. The petite 22-year-old, Florida-born, diva is so convincing that if you plunked him down into the cast of ABT’s La Bayadère as one of the Shades, no one would blink an eyelash... the performance is more than a little mind-blowing.
Some reviewers are more direct: "you'd never mistake Yakatarina Verbosovich (Chase Johnsey) for a dude with that cover-girl smile." The Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo dance company's artist director Tory Dobrin remarks, "Chase Johnsey, who's young, looks like a woman or a young girl."

Do we agree? This is a link to an official publicity photo.

In July 2007, Chase commented on dance as art and work:
I dance as my job. Dance is my biggest form of expression. People clap because of my physical interpretation of my own feelings. People pay to come see the show i perform in.. and they get to witness me. ( i am not famous i am not saying that, but they do come see the show) As a performer a person must be completely themselves.
Sounds perfect for The Cover Gurlz!

I think Chase is featured in some of this video.

September 18, 2008 Update: You're going to want to meet "new internet diva" Serenity -- and watch her videos.
