"Turn Me On"

I've written about the talented Sissy DéBut before, but this new video should not be missed. Sissy looks great and the performance is wonderful. Unfortunately, the music doesn't perfectly match the images -- so Sissy should have just smiled and looked pretty instead of worrying about the lip synchronization. Also, since this is a gossip site, I can say that the black-and-white portion of the video isn't especially flattering.

Ms. DéBut also has a fairly new website. Check out her latest photos.

Sissy, if you are reading this -- have you ever thought about performing now and then as the great Lucinda Williams? I know you are forging your own career (and I sincerely hope for the best), but you might reach some new fans as Lucinda.

Today's Dish

This blog draws attention to talented gurlz who sing, dance, or play musical instruments. The original idea was to propose a band called The Cover Gurlz.

In Vegas, it appears Derrick Barry is already halfway to this dream. You probably know him as the Britney Spears impersonator from TV, but he's obviously been perfecting his live singing. This video shows him singing solo and with Chad Michaels as Cher:

Derrick is headlining a new weekly show in a Vegas venue and is posting regular videos. In addition to Britney, he has performed as Roxie from "Chicago."

Singer: Li Yugang

Li Yugang (李玉刚) is one of the best-known gurlz in China. This picture gives you an idea of her look on stage, but this video provides a better expression of her art -- first in traditional dance, then singing:

In 2006, Li Yugang won a televised contest -- and this video is of the performer on a talk show of some sort. Another video shows Li Yugang in a more modern performance.

I'd like to see more of what she could do with pop culture.

Videos posted on the internet seem inadequate.
Though they are good.
